Introduction

Welcome to Pro Wrestling Alternatives, a blog dedicated to unique companies that provide PRO WRESTLING rather than sports entertainment. Many wrestling fans have become tired of sports entertainment based World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Total Nonstop Action (TNA). Thus fans have started to look for good alternatives such as Ring of Honor, Dragon Gate U.S.A, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Combat Zone Wrestling and other high quality independent wrestling promotions. We will cover and promote upcoming shows, news and videos. We will also provide unbiased reviews for independent wrestling DVDs so that you get your dollars worth. We hope that you'll visit Pro Wrestling Alternatives often and help to spread the word that there is still good wrestling out there.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I became a fan of Pro Wrestling at a very young age. I remember my Great Grandfather (who believed very much that wrestling was real despite my Grandfather telling him it wasn't) watching NWA/WCW and later watching WWF with my cousin. As a young child of the 1980's I was a huge fan of Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage and the many of the other colorful characters Vince McMahon presented. After Hogan's retirement from the WWF I lost interest for a few years until I heard he had signed with WCW. This is when I began watching wrestling again. It was also around this time that I saw ECW one late night on television. I'll never forget seeing the Steiner Brothers and Eddie Guerrero vs. Cactus Jack, Too Cold Scorpio and Dean Malenko on that fateful night. From there, I was hooked on wrestling. Throughout my teenage years and into High School I continued to watch and enjoy Pro Wrestling. Now as an adult, I still have that same love and passion for Pro Wrestling that I did as a child; though it is now more for independent wrestling. I have nothing but admiration and respect for the men and women who go out and put their bodies on the line night in and night out to perform. These courageous athletes are typically not paid near what they deserve (particularly on the independent level) but many of them do it because they love the sport.

Some people have football, others have basketball or baseball. But for me, my sport of choice has always been Pro Wrestling. These are events that bring people together of all faiths, colors and classes. Certainly one can be critical about some of the things that have gone on within the industry but I believe that Pro Wrestling is, all in all, a very positive force in our crazy world.
